Photographer, Chen Man's Speech

I'm Chen Man. While some use words or notes to express themselves, I use images. We may need translation when we use words, but music and images are languages that need no translation. They lead us towards our shared humanity.

Philanthropy is another universal language. In China, Europe and North America, philanthropy may come in different forms, but acts of benevolence and fraternity are actually taking place everywhere. This China-Europe-America Philanthropy Cooperation Initiative provides a platform for different organizations to collaborate and promote philanthropy.

I'm a photographer, and my work is about light. I believe that light is fair to everyone without distinction. No matter where light shines on, be it on one's face or body, land or ocean, it brings an equal amount of brightness and warmth. So, I have always believed in light as I have always believed in love.

Likewise, philanthropy doesn't discriminate either. This dialogue on philanthropy among China, Europe and America has the power to bring more light to more people. May those in the light have no fear of the dark, for it is you who will illuminate those in the dark and bring them back to the light. Whether it's education, the planet or human health, we all need to play a role. I wish this event a great success. I would also like to invite our young friends to be part of this endeavor, because in helping others, you elevate yourself.
