Introduction of Speakers in Session Four


Dr. Wang Hua, the Associate Dean of emlyon business school and Dean of emlyon Asia. His research interests centre on the innovation management, foreign direct investment, brand strategy, globalisation strategy of Chinese companies, and the automotive industry in China. He has published more than 110 publications in journals, books, and conference proceedings. He has taught MBA and EMBA courses in leading business schools, including Manchester Business School (UK), and has delivered executives training to corporate including Bosch, SAP, Volvo, Intel. He received a PhD from Université Pierre Mendes France, in France.


Professor Wang Jianhua, PhD of Education, Doctoral supervisor graduated from Beijing Normal University and taught in the School of Foreign Languages, Renmin University of China(2003); He served as the Secretary of CPC Branch of English Department of the School of Foreign Languages, Renmin University of China (2011-2016); He worked as visiting scholar in Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, USA (2012-2013) and in Oxford University, UK (2015); He was Vice President of Shanxi Normal University (2017.8-2019.11); He was appointed Deputy Dean of Foreign Language School, Renmin University of China in May 2020; He has been a Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Huaqiao University since Feb 2022.


Jingshan Luo is a full professor and vice director of the Institute of Photoelectronic Thin Film Devices and Technology at Nankai University. He received his BSc degree in Jilin University in 2010 and his PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University in 2014. After that, he went to École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland for postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Michael Grätzel, where he led the solar fuel subgroup. In 2018, he joined Nankai University. He has authored/coauthored nearly 120 peer-reviewed publications, which have been cited more than 22,000 times with an H-index of 66. He has received many awards and honors, such as the MIT Technology Review TR35 in China, the 2018-2021 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics, the Excellent Young Scholars Fund from National Science Foundation of China and Tianjin Wusi Youth Medal.


Tao Simin, PhD in Architecture, postgraduate supervisor, assistant professor and secretary of international affairs, college of design and innovation, Tongji University. Her research interests include regulation and design of architectural environment, climate architecture, sustainable environmental design, ecological construction of traditional dwellings, and urban soundscape. She is a member of the Center for Energy & Thermodynamic Architecture (CETA), Urban and Rural Communication Research Center, and Sound Research Centre, Tongji University.


Originally from Cork, Ireland, Darren has been living and working in Shanghai since 2015. He has gained prior experience in Venture Capital with SOSV & Social Impact Consulting with WWF before returning to his passion: encouraging people to get more active and live healthy sustainable lifestyles. Darren founded ReLabs – Green Gym in 2017 – offering team building and eco tourism activities. Since then, his work has engaged over 5,000 people who have burned almost 8 million calories improving planetary health across Asia. Darren is founding member of Impact Hub Shanghai, committee member with the Irish Chamber of Commerce in China and a Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum since 2017.


Dr. Zhu Yunjie, PhD (College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University), research fellow of Institute for Comparative Politics and Public Policy at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, focusing on water supply and treatment, physical and chemical processes, environmental toxicology and microbiology, communication and cooperation for urban sustainable development. He has published articles about Nanofiltration Physiochemical Properties and Drinking Water Treatment Behavior, Civil Diplomacy in Global City Development, the Enlightenment of Science and Technology Innovation Link and Sino-US Urban Cooperation to Shanghai Development, Chapter of International Cooperation in Shanghai Manual for 2018-2020. He has participated in researches on Technology and International Cooperation in Central and Key Regions in the U.S., Major Projects of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation, Biological Risk Assessment and Control Technology of Jinze Reservoir Water Pretreatment and Water Supply Process.

 

Ryan works as a Marketing Manager for TexPac Hide & Skin, a process manufacturer for the protein and textile industries. Ryan has worked in global trade and commodities finance for the past 8 years, helping middle market companies establish new ventures and expand their presence in China, East Asia and South America. Ryan was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. He attended college at West Virginia University where he studied International Business, Economics and Chinese. Ryan attended business school at Haiyang University in Qingdao, China where he obtained a Masters in Transnational Management and Applied Economics. Ryan is fluent in Mandarin, Chinese.

 

Cedric Devroye, SVP at United Trademarks Group, President of the CEIBS Alumni International Chapter, with 15+ years of progressive experience in diverse roles within consumer goods industry and fashion retail. Has been residing in Shanghai, China, since 2009. He joined the United Trademarks Group’s (UTG) senior management in 2010. UTG is a leading specialized brand management and operation company focused on acquiring valuable trademarks and helping them grow in the China marketplace. As Senior Vice President, he supports the success of the company enterprise and assures effective execution of business strategies especially in the field of Branding, Retail and Marketing, Trademark Protection and Business Development.
